1.06: "Lost, But Not Forgotten"

This was a slightly newer spin on the ideas of memory transfer devices, but it was interesting in the sense that our heroes couldn't really do anything about it. We watched the episode unfold, and although so much of it took place on Destiny, the episode was really about that devestated civilization and what led to its defeat. That was cool, and if it had been done any differently, "Lost But Not Forgotten" would have lost its balance and been either too slow, or too quick.

The pacing was good, and the writing was sharp. The insight into alternative military tactics, like we saw in the Malecathi battle, was very cool. We got to see some Malecathi background, although only in terms of their leadership; it was important to know nonetheless.

The episode had some nice moments for Hemmingway, Jonas, and even one or two for Tenyris. The guest characters created a presence and a sense of urgency, without getting in the way of the main characters - very good.

I was wondering until the end if you were going to pull a "There but for the Grace of God..." on us, and have it end with a crucial piece of information about the Malecathi coming after us, but, that wouldn't be logical, because we're on a ship.

I'd say that this was a very good episode.
