1.09 "Pathogen"

Well, nothing is original anymore. The plot was another solid, tried-and-true method - a virus breaks out on base, we have to fix it, and cure everyone important who was afflicted. However, that's not the case. Destiny never quite lets people get off the hook that easily, and people do die. Just... not the four main characters.

The pacing of the episode was absolutely perfect, from beginning to end, although I can't help but feel that there should have been an ending scene with Takeshi and Lancaster talking, and sort of getting into the Doctor's psyche. The episode worked even without it, but it would have been very nice.

This was the first episode where all of the team really clicked. All of the main characters and all of the guest characters did an all-star job in this one, bringing it together perfectly. There was not akwardness or forcedness in the team's interactions, it flowed smoothly. Barrows was less like Gollum in this one, and was a bit more human. That's a very good thing. I like that some mystery was put into Morgami's character, and I very much like the interchange between him and Tenyris.

The plot was very well executed, and the solution was not a deus ex machina like I had feared it may have been. It was a very smart script in that regard, and many others. The use of the ATA gene was very clever, however, in the future, they can remove the ATA gene sequence from the DNA, if they ever find the right technology on another planet, and start manufacturing new Thrull-killing gas that won't kill humans. Hope we get to see something like that happening!

I have to say, this is by far my favorite episode this season! I hope we get to see the stuff that we learned from the Malecathi base being put into action relatively soon!
